Job summary

Adient plc seeks a Materials Manager to lead material planning, inventory control, receiving, shipping, and related logistics at our Normal, IL plant. You will drive KPI performance, supplier engagement, and safety while ensuring uninterrupted production flow.

Key duties include MRP/ERP management, BOM accuracy, budgeting, and continuous improvement of freight, packaging, and material handling. Leadership of supervisors and hourly staff is required; automotive manufacturing and IATF 16949

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of progressive experience in materials management, supply chain, logistics, or manufacturing operations.
• Previous leadership experience managing supervisors and hourly employees.
• Strong knowledge of MRP/ERP systems, inventory management, production planning, and logistics operations.
• Experience in automotive manufacturing and familiarity with IATF 16949 requirements preferred.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ERP systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead material planning and inventory management to support production flow.
• Oversee supplier performance and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Manage inbound/outbound transportation and customer service.
• Establish procedures for receiving, shipping, storage, and material movement.
• Lead, coach, and develop materials staff; monitor productivity.
• Ensure safety, compliance, and equipment maintenance.
• Track KPIs and drive cost reduction in freight, packaging, and handling.
