Job summary

District of Columbia International School (DCI) seeks a Chief of Staff to partner with the Executive Director, leading strategic planning, communications, board engagement, and external advocacy while supervising the Director of Communications and Director of Development. This senior role shapes organizational alignment across 300+ staff and 1,600+ families.

Salary range is $145,000–$175,000, starting salary determined by experience and internal equity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; Masters preferred in related field.
• Minimum 7 years of professional experience, incl. 3+ in senior leadership roles.
• Experience supervising directors or senior staff.
• Strong planning, project management, and organizational alignment skills.
• Experience with boards, external stakeholders, or regulators preferred.
• Strong writing and oral communication; bilingual Spanish preferred.
• Background check required.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and execution of 1- and 5-year strategic plans.
• Own organization-wide goals, metrics, and calendar alignment.
• Oversee communications, marketing, and external messaging.
• Supervise the Director of Communications and Director of Development.
• Manage board relations and ensure Open Meetings Act compliance.
• Drive external advocacy with city leaders and charter authorities.
