Job summary

Stanford University is seeking an Associate Vice President, Strategic Initiatives, to serve as a trusted strategic partner to the President and university senior leadership. Reporting to the Chief of Staff, this role will lead university-wide strategic initiatives and provide analytical and operational capacity to identify, evaluate, and address key questions.

The role will build a small internal team, including a rotational fellows program, giving Stanford an in-house strategic capacity.

Qualifications

• Master's degree required; strong background in higher education administration or executive leadership.
• 15+ years in strategy consulting, corporate strategy, or C-suite leadership.
• Proven experience in strategic planning implementation and team-building.
• Experience partnering within shared/faculty governance structures.

Responsibilities

• Identify institutional opportunities and provide recommendations for senior leadership.
• Translate priorities into executable plans with owners, resources and timelines.
• Serve as thought partner to the President and Cabinet on strategic priorities.
• Build and lead a dedicated strategic initiatives team with a clear operating model.
