The role focuses on supporting VPRA's passenger rail operations and capital programs and involves day-to-day financial tasks.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years in finance/accounting with GAAP knowledge, strong Excel skills, and a CPA preference.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or closely related field.
• CPA preferred.
• 2+ years in finance or accounting with progressive growth.
• Knowledge of GAAP and financial policies.
• Ability to use accounting/finance systems for data analysis and reporting.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the annual budget process for the Authority and capital/operating grants.
• Prepare and analyze monthly budget-to-actual reports for VPRA Board.
• Support cash forecasting and liquidity monitoring for four state-sponsored routes.
• Assist with cash collections and reimbursement submissions as needed.
• Prepare regular financial reports for funding partners.
• Perform revenue reconciliations across diverse sources and allocation tracking.
• Maintain and monitor projects/budgets in Microsoft Dynamics 365.
• Provide decision support via financial analysis and strategic storytelling.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive scalable analyses.
• Contribute to ad hoc strategic/operational projects.
