Job summary

The Alaska Community Foundation seeks a Director of Finance to lead the organization’s financial operations, ensuring integrity, transparency, and strategic stewardship across donor-advised, restricted, endowment, and agency funds. You will partner with the CFO, supervise the Controller, and translate complex data into actionable insights for leadership and the board.

Qualifications

• Eight to twelve years of progressive accounting/finance experience in nonprofits.
• Expert knowledge of nonprofit GAAP (FASB ASC 958).
• Experience with external auditors and audits.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic finance leadership and partner with the CFO on planning and sustainability.
• Oversee fund accounting across donor-advised, restricted, endowment, and agency funds.
• Review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting prepared by the Controller.
• Maintain internal controls and ensure compliance with nonprofit regulations and policy.
• Lead system enhancements and process optimization for scalable operations.
• Oversee grantmaking finance activities and donor-restricted accounting.
• Supervise the Controller and support accounting team development.
• Engage with the Operating Committee to align finance with organizational goals.
