Job summary

The Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe in Port Angeles, WA seeks a Chief Financial Officer to lead financial operations for the tribal government and its enterprises. You will direct budgeting, accounting, cash flow, and financial reporting, while guiding staff and coordinating with outside partners.

Ideal candidates have a strong background in government accounting, PL638, GASB, and supervisory experience in tribal government finance.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or business.
Five or more years’ experience in a senior financial position.
Supervisory and administrative experience in an Indian Tribal Government.
Experience with PL638 and the Indian Self-Determination and Buy Indian Acts.
Five or more years managing the tribal government budget process.
Must pass a background check and hold a Washington driver’s license within 30 days.

Responsibilities

Plans, directs and coordinates accounting, fiscal reporting, debt management and treasury functions.
Maintains all financial and managerial accounting systems and records.
Implements financial policies and ensures duties separation within the department.
Oversees cash flow, investments and banking contracts while coordinating with enterprises.
Ensures audits and reporting compliance with GASB and grants.
