Job summary

Saint Martin’s University is seeking a Controller who reports to the Vice President-Finance/CFO to plan and direct all fiscal accounting functions, supervise staff, and oversee cash management, fixed assets, construction projects and long-term debt.

The Controller will ensure strong internal controls, oversee general ledger activities, support external reporting, audits, budgeting, and collaboration with the CFO to advance the university's mission while maintaining compliance and financial

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration.
• Minimum of five years of progressively responsible accounting/financial services experience.
• Experience in higher education/non-profit accounting desirable.
• Supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide supervision to finance staff and ensure coverage of accounting tasks.
• Oversee general ledger, accounts receivable/payable and payroll processing.
• Reconcile bank accounts and monitor cash flow for university operations.
• Manage fixed assets, construction projects and debt payments; set up accounting files.
• Lead external audits and serve as audit liaison with the CFO and auditors.
• Assist in budgeting processes and financial planning with the Vice President-Finance/CFO.
