Job summary

Align Credit Union in Lowell, MA is seeking a VP Controller to provide leadership over accounting, financial reporting, and internal controls. Reporting to the President & CEO, you will collaborate with Risk Management, Lending, Operations, IT, and the executive team to ensure strong financial controls, regulatory compliance, and sound decision-making.

You will serve on the Senior Leadership Team and ALCO and oversee the accounting department.

Responsibilities

• Oversee accounting department activities: general ledger, A/P, reconciliations, month-end/year-end closing, and accuracy of financial records.
• Lead accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and regulatory filings (NCUA Call Report and other filings).
• Drive budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and financial planning with senior leaders.
• Oversee Allowance for Credit Losses (CECL) in collaboration with Risk Management and Lending.
• Strengthen internal controls, risk monitoring, and escalation of discrepancies.
• Provide financial analyses to support ALCO and balance sheet management and strategy.
• Coordinate financial systems, data integrity, and IT collaboration for reporting.
• Support auditors and regulators, facilitating exams and remediation actions.
• Lead and develop Accounting staff, driving process improvements and efficiency.
• Represent finance in Senior Leadership Team and Board discussions.
