Job summary

Pacific Forest Trust is seeking an Executive Vice President in San Francisco to strengthen the operational backbone of the nonprofit, overseeing HR, administration, information technology, and facilities.

Reporting to the President and CEO, the EVP will lead cross‑functional systems, ensure compliance and risk mitigation, and guide annual workplans and budgeting with the Finance and Administration Director.

Qualifications

  • At least 7 years of management experience in nonprofits, including land trust experience
  • Proven experience as a team leader and senior operations professional
  • Outstanding management skills with ability to oversee complex operations
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with diverse teams
  • Strong leadership with team building and mentoring
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent time management with ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced environment
  • Discretion and confidentiality in handling sensitive information
  • Professionalism, integrity, and proactive problem-solving
  • Familiarity with conservation and climate policy (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Be a visionary operational leader across programs, refining systems and implementing change-management projects
  • Oversee budget oversight, compliance, security, and internal controls to uphold reputation
  • Reports to the President and CEO; serves on the Management Team
  • Lead workplan implementation, monitoring and reporting, and support annual workplans
  • Oversee Human Resources including recruitment, onboarding, development, performance reviews, and policy compliance
  • Oversee internal operations functions including budgets, IT, security and facilities management
  • Collaborate with the Finance and Administration Director on annual budget process and reporting
  • Participate in Management Team meetings and chair meetings when the CEO is unavailable
  • Participate in Board meetings and draft quarterly Board reports
  • Act as a right hand to CEO to ensure efficient internal operations
