Job summary

Amazon's Energy & Water team seeks a Senior Manager in Public Affairs to lead engagement with regulators, elected officials, community stakeholders, and public audiences in Arlington and across the region.

You will translate complex energy and water topics into the right messaging, build trusted relationships, and work with policy, legal, community, and economic development partners to foster informed, transparent dialogue.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in energy, water, environmental, or infrastructure with ability to translate technical complexity into public narrative
• Experience representing an organization publicly in live, high-visibility settings
• Strong understanding of energy or water regulatory landscape; familiarity with both is preferred
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; authoritative and listener
• Experience in public affairs, communications, or government/community relations function
• Comfort with ambiguity and evolving facts; you are the face in the room

Responsibilities

• Represent Energy & Water in public and community settings—open houses, hearings, stakeholder forums—building trusted relationships with officials and community stakeholders
• Engage with regulators, agency staff, elected officials, and policy stakeholders with Public Policy and Legal teams, delivering accurate Energy & Water perspectives
• Field live questions on energy sourcing, power demand, grid impact, water use, wastewater, from engaged community members and advocacy groups
• Develop and maintain talking points, FAQs, and Q&A guidance on energy and water topics for cross-functional teams
• Coordinate with Public Policy, Legal, Community Engagement, and Economic Development to align messaging, tone, and sequencing before external positions
