Job summary

Montgomery County is seeking a Planning Manager to lead community and economic development efforts under the Director. The role oversees incentive programs, regional business retention, and site/building inventories, with supervision of Economic Development and Planning staff.

The position requires extensive knowledge of regulations and public administration, plus the ability to coordinate programs and present policy guidance to officials and stakeholders. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate and/or graduate study in business administration, economics or public administration.
• Four years related experience in government or non‑profit economic development, or 2.5 years in management within such organizations.
• Knowledge of development incentives, regulations and program evaluation.

Responsibilities

• Direct development incentive programs and coordinate countywide initiatives.
• Oversee the countywide and regional business retention and expansion program.
• Supervise Economic Development and Planning staff and manage site/building inventories.
