Job summary

The Metropolitan Council Environmental Services division seeks a Director, Interceptor Services to lead the Interceptor Services Business Unit, set a clear vision, and drive strategic plans for safety, compliance, and financial stability across large-scale infrastructure.

Responsibilities include overseeing operations, budgeting, staff development, stakeholder engagement, and aligning initiatives with regulatory and organizational goals within the Twin Cities region.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or higher degree with nine years of experience, including five years of management experience.
• Associate degree with eleven years of experience, including five years of management experience.
• High school diploma/GED with thirteen years of experience, including five years of management experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist in overseeing the administration, management, and operations of the Interceptor Services Business Unit while developing and implementing strategic plans and policies.
• Ensure the successful implementation of strategic plans, monitor organizational performance, and drive operational effectiveness and innovation.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant standards and promote a safe and healthy work environment.
• Provide financial insights, establish and monitor budgets, and identify opportunities for revenue generation and cost savings.
• Direct and develop staff, ensuring adherence to policies and fostering a positive, equitable, and respectful work environment.
• Develop collaborative relationships within the agency and with external stakeholders, promoting teamwork and effective communication.
• Provide strategic direction for the management of the interceptor system, ensuring compliance with water quality standards and maintaining system integrity.
