Job summary

Indian River State College seeks an accomplished administrator to provide executive leadership for its Fire Academy programs. You'll oversee recruit training, certifications, continuing education, and curriculum development to align with state standards and industry best practices.

The role requires a strong background in fire service leadership, budget management, and partnerships with local fire agencies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Fire Science, EMS, Public Administration, or related field (Master's degree preferred).
• Active Fire Instructor (minimum level II) with the Florida Fire College or certification within 6 months of hire.
• Knowledge of Florida Bureau of Fire Standards rules and regulations and fire training facility maintenance.
• Curricula design and development experience with Fire College-related programs.
• FESHE network standards and curriculum familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Provide administrative leadership and strategic oversight for all fire training programs.
• Ensure compliance with Florida Bureau of Fire Standards and college accreditation standards.
• Recruit, supervise, and evaluate instructors, adjunct faculty, and staff.
• Manage program budget, equipment inventory, and facilities.
• Develop, update, and assess curriculum reflecting industry best practices.
• Oversee student recruitment, admissions, orientation, and retention processes.
• Promote partnerships with municipal/county fire agencies and associations.
• Enforce safety policies and risk management during training activities.
• Represent the Fire Academy at committees and public events.
• Seek and manage grants or external funding for program initiatives.
