Job summary

UPMC Washington seeks a Director of Facilities Engineering and Maintenance to lead planning, operation, and improvement of hospital infrastructure. You will ensure a safe, compliant environment that supports patient care, manage budgets and preventive maintenance, and direct a team of engineers and technicians.

The role requires strong leadership, union management experience, and a deep understanding of healthcare regulations, with extensive collaboration with clinical and senior leadership.

Qualifications

• Must understand healthcare facility regulations and standards (TJC, PA DOH, NFPA).
• Ability to read blueprints and know MEP acronyms.
• Experience managing engineering/maintenance teams in healthcare.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning, operation, and continuous improvement of facility infrastructure.
• Develop annual capital and operating budgets and operating plans.
• Oversee energy management, building systems, and CMMS programs.
• Manage in-house maintenance staff and renovations.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory codes and standards.
