Job summary

VHB seeks a Data Architect to join the data team and advance the enterprise data strategy. You will lead design and implementation of scalable data architectures, partnering with cross-functional teams to establish standards and optimize data infrastructure for growth.

The role offers hybrid work options with EST hours and occasional travel to our Watertown, MA headquarters. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.
• 3–5+ years in data architecture, data engineering, or related roles.
• Experience designing enterprise data warehouses and data lakes.
• Experience with cloud-based data technologies and modern data integration tools.
• Strong understanding of database administration, security, performance tuning, and optimization.
• Collaborate across technical and business teams to deliver data solutions.

Responsibilities

• Design conceptual, logical, and physical data models for enterprise apps, data warehouses, and analytics platforms.
• Architect end-to-end data solutions including data integration, storage, access patterns, and migrations.
• Define and enforce data standards, governance, and best practices across the organization.
• Evaluate data technologies and platforms aligned with business and technical needs.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable data architectures.
• Establish and maintain data lineage, metadata management, and data cataloging.
• Design, implement, and maintain databases supporting enterprise apps and analytics initiatives.
• Lead database tuning, performance monitoring, and optimization efforts.
• Manage database security, permissions, and RBAC; ensure compliance with policies.
• Plan upgrades, patches, and platform enhancements with minimal downtime.
• Provide technical leadership and mentor junior engineers and architects.
