Job summary

The Poole and Kent Corporation in Baltimore, MD seeks a Director of Purchasing to lead the procurement function for large-scale mechanical contracting projects. This strategic role drives cost efficiency, supply reliability, and margins by shaping sourcing across HVAC, piping, and equipment.

You will build vendor relationships, negotiate high-value contracts, and mentor a high-performing team while aligning purchasing with project budgets and estimating.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• 10+ years procurement or supply chain experience in construction or mechanical contracting.
• 5+ years of leadership experience managing teams and large-scale spend.
• Experience with ERP/procurement systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute enterprise-wide procurement strategies.
• Lead sourcing across key material categories (HVAC, piping, plumbing, equipment).
• Negotiate high-value vendor agreements and rebate programs.
• Drive material cost savings and protect project margins.
• Collaborate with project managers to ensure timely procurement and delivery.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing procurement team.
• Improve procurement workflows and ERP usage (Viewpoint).
