Job summary

Metra seeks a strategic, collaborative HR leader to serve as Chief Human Resources Officer, a key executive role reporting to the Deputy Executive Director for Administration. The CHRO will direct talent acquisition, compensation, benefits, and workforce planning for 3,400+ employees, with labor relations managed by a separate team.

The ideal candidate has extensive HR leadership experience, strong strategic planning and problem-solving skills, and familiarity with KPI-driven improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Industrial Psychology, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent experience (4+ years in HR).
• At least ten years in HR management with seven years in supervision; experience with senior leadership required.
• Master’s degree and SPHR/SHRM-SCP credentials are highly valued.

Responsibilities

• Lead HR services for a workforce of 3,400+ employees and oversee a multi-functional team.
• Manage budget, KPIs, and strategic workforce initiatives; collaborate across the organization.
• Ensure labor relations are handled by a separate department and maintain compliance with ethics laws.
