Qualifications

  • DDS/DMD/PhD or equivalent from an accredited institution.
  • Proven leadership with vision and strategy for diverse constituents.
  • Experience developing new research programs through collaboration.
  • Strong, collaborative, forward-looking leadership promoting governance.
  • Ability to recruit, retain, and advocate for top faculty and staff.
  • Strong financial acumen and fiscal management.
  • Broad understanding of biomaterials, academia, industry, funding, and policy trends.
  • Dynamic communicator to elevate the department's profile.

Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic planning aligned with the School’s vision and mission.
  • Maintain and advance a high-impact research program and provide department leadership.
  • Mentor, guide career development, and support faculty.
  • Teach across dental and medical students, graduate students, and postdocs.
  • Collaborate with SEAS and other Harvard entities; participate in leadership teams.
  • Oversee department operations, faculty/staff supervision, curriculum management, and fiscal stewardship.
