Job summary

Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Orange Coast in Orange County, CA seeks a Chief Financial Officer to shape strategy, oversee complex nonprofit finances, and partner with the CEO and Board. This leader will modernize systems, strengthen internal controls, and guide growth with disciplined financial management.

The CFO will manage grants, contracts, and financial reporting across multiple sites, ensuring accountability and mission impact while building a high-performing finance team.

Qualifications

• At least 10 years of progressively responsible finance and accounting experience, including senior leadership.
• Deep command of GAAP, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, financial reporting, internal controls, and systems.
• Experience with nonprofit or multi-program environments involving restricted funding.
• Proven ownership of government-funded programs, reimbursement contracts, cost allocation, and compliance.
• Experience advising a Board and building executive confidence.
• Track record of developing teams, improving systems, and translating financial complexity into decisive action.

Responsibilities

• Advise the CEO, Board, and Executive Team on performance, tradeoffs, opportunities, risks, and major decisions.
• Lead annual and multi-year planning, budgeting, rolling forecasts, scenario analysis, and capital planning.
• Present complex financial issues with clarity, candor, and actionable recommendations.
• Ensure timely GAAP-compliant statements, monthly/year-end closes, reconciliations, and reporting.
• Own internal controls, policies, approvals, segregation of duties, and risk management.
• Oversee government grants, contracts, reimbursements, and compliance; manage cost allocations.
• Direct finance operations; build a high-performing team and partner with leaders across the organization.
