Job summary

Arizona Public Service (APS) is seeking a Category Manager I to lead strategic sourcing for a defined category, develop category plans and oversee supplier relationships. The role drives cost management, supplier diversity, and process improvements within a major spend area, typically up to $25M in category spend.

The position requires a four-year degree with several years of procurement experience, or an equivalent combination of education and professional certification.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering or related discipline.
• 3 years materials or services procurement experience with exposure to strategic supply chain management issues.
• In lieu of bachelor's degree, professional certification (e.g., CPM, CPSM) plus 7 years of relevant experience.
• OR Associate's degree in business or related discipline, professional certification (e.g., CPM, CPSM) plus 5 years of related experience.

Responsibilities

• Develops and implements supply chain strategies for a specific category to achieve cost management and supplier management goals.
• Determines strategy and resources for supporting procurement needs of major projects.
• Participates in driving category management methodology for maximum lifecycle value from spend categories.
• Manages supplier relationships, sets and tracks performance indicators.
• Assists in selection and deployment of sourcing strategies and tools.
• Contributes to cross-functional teams to achieve savings targets.
• Supports productivity and process improvement initiatives in supply chain management.
