Job summary

American Electric Power seeks a lead for assigned Procurement projects to oversee the spend lifecycle across categories, providing leadership in sourcing, contracts, supplier relationship management, inventory management and standardization.

This role develops and executes strategic sourcing for high-spend, complex categories, identifies real TCO savings, and collaborates with Business Units to achieve corporate savings goals while optimizing logistics and working capital.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in supply management, logistics, business administration, engineering, or related field.
• 5 years in supply chain, fleet, or related experience.
• MBA or purchasing certification is preferred but not required.
• Ideal candidate has 8 years of supply chain or related experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage the company’s overall strategy to control costs within budgetary limits, generating savings, rationalizing inventory and maximizing working capital.
• Manage implementation and ongoing activities of the Company’s strategy by establishing timing, resources, standardization events and communication tools.
• Perform supplier relationship management (SRM) and contract administration for the programs.
• Coordinate with Supply Chain teams to ensure buying strategies align with inventory needs and Operating Company requirements.
• Leverage technology to create internal process efficiencies.
• Communicate program performance metrics to management.
• Collaborate with Business Units and Supply Chain on demand management strategies.
• Assist in optimizing logistics processes with cross-functional teams.
