Job summary

Hicks Professional Group (HPG) is seeking an experienced Strategic Buyer to support supplier strategy, sourcing, contracting, and procurement activities for logistics automation and material handling equipment in Peoria, IL. This is an on-site, 12-month contract.

The role develops supplier strategies, issues RFQs, negotiates agreements, and evaluates performance. You will collaborate with Buyers and Project Engineering teams to optimize the supplier base and ensure timely delivery.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years of procurement or supply chain experience.

POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking an experienced Strategic Buyer to support supplier strategy, sourcing, contracting, and procurement activities for logistics automation and material handling equipment.

This position will develop and execute supplier strategies, manage RFQs, negotiate agreements, evaluate suppliers, and work closely with Buyers and Project Engineering teams. The ideal candidate brings strong procurement and supply chain experience with demonstrated success negotiating and managing a supplier base.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop and execute supplier strategies for logistics automation and material handling equipment.
• Develop, issue, and manage RFQs and evaluate supplier responses.
• Negotiate and execute agreements with suppliers.
• Evaluate and optimize suppliers based on price, quality, service, availability, support, and other relevant factors.
• Manage supplier relationships and overall supply-base performance.
• Review purchase orders, bid proposals, and requisitions for goods and services.
• Analyze pricing proposals, financial information, and other technical data to support purchasing decisions.
• Monitor contract performance and ensure suppliers meet contractual obligations.
• Work with suppliers and internal stakeholders to resolve quality, delivery, and performance issues.
• Partner daily with Buyers and Project Engineering teams.
• Support negotiation, renegotiation, and administration of supplier contracts.
• Develop and present sourcing and procurement information to stakeholders.
• Support supply chain and inventory requirements as needed.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• 5-7 years of related procurement, purchasing, sourcing, or supply chain experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Supply Chain, or a related business field.
• Strong experience with contracting and supplier agreements.
• Demonstrated experience developing and managing RFQs.
• Strong supplier negotiation and supply-base management experience.
• Experience evaluating suppliers and supplier performance.
• Knowledge of supply chain management and purchasing practices.
• Ability to analyze price proposals, financial information, and technical data.
• Strong Microsoft Excel and Word skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong negotiation, interpersonal, and analytical skills.

TOP SKILLS

This is a full-time, on-site position in Peoria, Illinois.

Some travel may be required to manufacturing locations within Illinois and Indiana.
