Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred; Associate degree with experience considered.

Position Summary

The Strategic Buyer – After Sales & Supply Chain is responsible for sourcing, purchasing, pricing, and managing strategic parts and production materials that support both aftermarket and manufacturing operations. This role combines strategic sourcing, supplier management, inventory planning, ERP data management, pricing strategy, and financial analysis to ensure product availability, cost competitiveness, operational efficiency, and profitability.

The ideal candidate will possess strong procurement expertise, commercial awareness, supplier negotiation skills, and analytical capabilities. This position works closely with After Sales, Operations, Inventory Planning, Finance, Engineering, and Service teams to support localization initiatives, manufacturing requirements, and continuous improvement objectives.

Primary Objective

Drive procurement excellence by sourcing and managing strategic aftermarket parts and operational materials while developing supplier partnerships, optimizing inventory levels, supporting parts localization initiatives, maintaining ERP data integrity, and improving profitability through effective pricing and cost management strategies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Strategic Sourcing & Parts Localization
  • Identify, evaluate, and implement opportunities to localize strategic aftermarket parts.
  • Develop and maintain a pipeline of localization opportunities based on sales volume, revenue, lead time, tariff exposure, margin improvement, and market demand.
  • Source and qualify local and regional suppliers to improve supply chain flexibility and competitiveness.
  • Support transitions from imported products to locally sourced alternatives while minimizing inventory and operational risk.
  • Conduct supplier evaluations and qualification activities.
  • Develop alternate supply sources to reduce business continuity risks.
Procurement & Purchasing Management
  • Create, issue, and manage purchase orders for production materials, aftermarket parts, MRO supplies, services, spare parts, tools, and safety equipment.
  • Monitor supplier performance regarding cost, quality, responsiveness, and delivery reliability.
  • Expedite critical orders to minimize operational disruptions.
  • Negotiate pricing, payment terms, lead times, freight terms, minimum order quantities, and supply agreements.
  • Resolve invoice discrepancies, receiving issues, and supplier-related concerns.
  • Ensure uninterrupted availability of production and aftermarket materials.
Inventory Management & VMI Programs
  • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate replenishment activities.
  • Manage and support Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) programs.
  • Review inventory reports, supplier stocking levels, and replenishment performance.
  • Coordinate stocking strategies, reorder points, safety stock levels, and inventory transitions.
  • Support cycle counts and physical inventory programs.
  • Assist in maintaining inventory accuracy and reducing excess inventory.
Market Intelligence & Pricing Strategy
  • Research market pricing for strategic aftermarket parts, including OEM, dealer, and aftermarket alternatives.
  • Develop market-based pricing recommendations that balance competitiveness and profitability.
  • Analyze dealer pricing structures, discount programs, and market acceptance levels.
  • Benchmark competitor pricing and identify opportunities for improved customer value.
  • Maintain pricing intelligence and competitive market data for key product categories.
  • Recommend pricing actions that improve customer adoption while protecting gross margin.
ERP & Master Data Management
  • Maintain purchasing, supplier, inventory, and pricing information within ERP/MRP systems.
  • Manage item master records, supplier assignments, purchasing parameters, cost records, and pricing structures.
  • Ensure data accuracy and completeness prior to product release or supplier implementation.
  • Coordinate cost updates and pricing changes with Finance and Operations.
  • Maintain sourcing documentation and purchasing records in compliance with company policies.
  • Support ERP governance and data integrity initiatives.
Financial Analysis & Cost Management
  • Analyze supplier quotations, cost structures, tariffs, freight expenses, and total cost of ownership.
  • Build business cases supporting localization, sourcing changes, and supplier selection decisions.
  • Track procurement savings, tariff avoidance, inventory improvements, and margin enhancements.
  • Support standard cost analysis and inventory valuation activities.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and process improvements throughout the supply chain.
  • Prepare reports and analyses for management review and decision-making.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with After Sales, Operations, Engineering, Inventory Planning, Finance, Service, and Manufacturing teams to support procurement objectives.
  • Assist in resolving supply chain, inventory, pricing, and supplier performance issues.
  • Support product launches, sourcing initiatives, and continuous improvement projects.
  • Provide procurement support and pricing information to dealers and internal stakeholders as required.
  • Participate in strategic supply chain planning and operational review meetings.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Finance, Engineering, Industrial Management, or a related field preferred. Associate degree with relevant experience will be considered.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in purchasing, strategic sourcing, inventory management, supply chain, aftermarket parts, manufacturing procurement, or related functions.
  • Experience purchasing MRO materials, production components, industrial parts, automotive, heavy equipment, construction, agricultural, or material handling products preferred.
  • Understanding of inventory management concepts, including Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) programs.
  • Experience working with ERP/MRP systems.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and data analysis skills.
  • Knowledge of pricing analysis, cost management, and supplier negotiations.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with aftermarket parts pricing and localization initiatives.
  • Experience conducting supplier negotiations and contract management.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing and distribution environments.
  • Knowledge of total cost of ownership analysis and financial business case development.
  • APICS, CPSM, CPM, or related supply chain certifications are a plus.
