Job summary

The State of Nebraska Budget Office is seeking a Budget Management Analyst to join the Budget Division. You will provide fiscal policy guidance, evaluate program effectiveness, and develop budget reporting systems to support executive leadership and state agencies.

Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor’s degree in a related field with four years of relevant experience; familiarity with SQL, Excel, and Power BI is a plus. The role offers comprehensive benefits and a strong public service impact.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in public administration, finance or economics or related area plus four years of work experience.
• Experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.
• Preference for presentation, legislative process, policy research, data analysis, and use of SQL, Excel and Power BI.

Responsibilities

• Provides fiscal policy and management support to Governor, agencies, legislature, and officials.
• Evaluates program effectiveness and makes budget policy recommendations.
• Develops and monitors management and budget reporting systems.
• Researches and drafts fiscal notes for legislative determination.
• Reviews agency budget requests and presents analyses to Governor and senior staff.
• Prepares Governor's budget recommendations and assists with implementation.

Education
