Job summary

Army National Guard Units is seeking a Budget Officer to provide comprehensive management oversight of budget formulation and execution. The role serves as the technical authority on fiscal policy, ensuring compliance with DoD and OMB guidelines while guiding senior leadership through budget decisions.

The position requires expertise in preparing analyses, defending budget requests, and coordinating with DoD/NGB stakeholders to balance efficiency and program goals.

Qualifications

• Experience with budget formulation, justification, and execution in a government context.
• Ability to interpret, apply and implement budgetary principles, procedures and guidelines.
• Ability to prepare analyses and summaries of budget performance for management review.

Responsibilities

• Provide management oversight and guidance to budget formulation and execution processes.
• Serve as technical authority on fiscal and budgetary policy, law and regulatory guidelines (OMB/DoD/NGB).
• Develop and present budget analyses and summaries for senior leadership and review forums.
• Review and consolidate budget data for consistency with guidelines and reasonableness.
• Advise top management on efficiency and economy of operations and budget actions.
