Job summary

The SC Aeronautics Commission is seeking a Program Manager III (Deputy Director) to lead statewide airport development, grants, and maintenance programs. You will provide executive-level leadership for aviation infrastructure investments, ensuring FAA compliance and alignment with agency goals.

Responsibilities include supervising staff, coordinating with sponsors and governments, and guiding land-use planning around airports. A civil engineering-related degree and travel capability are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, airport engineering, aviation management, construction management, or a closely related field.
• Experience in the management of airport/transportation related capital improvement programs.
• Must possess a valid driver's license and be capable of statewide travel.
• Experience with Microsoft products, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and ArcGIS.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise staff and manage performance planning and evaluations.
• Lead planning, administration, and oversight of state airport development and maintenance programs; manage grants and investment.
• Provide engineering leadership for airport planning, design, construction, maintenance, and capital projects.
• Represent the agency before sponsors, local governments, consultants, contractors, and agencies; coordinate statewide aviation objectives.
• Oversee land use coordination around airports and ensure compliance with policies and safety considerations.
• Lead procurement for maintenance contracts and develop technical specifications for airport projects.
• Assist the Executive Director in strategic planning, budgeting, and agency operations.
• Oversee travel requirements for staff as needed.
