Job summary

Fry’s Food Stores in Arizona is seeking a department manager to lead the Home Department, drive sales and profit goals, and ensure high standards of customer service and quality assurance. You will role model the company values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety for coworkers and customers.

The role emphasizes planning, inventory control, staff supervision and adherence to company policies to deliver an exceptional shopping experience.

Qualifications

  • Will ing to work weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure; read bar graphs.
  • Ability to read shelf tags, signs, product labels, training materials, and bulletins.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

  • Able to tactfully and calmly handle stressful situations and make a positive impression on associates and customers.
  • Possess abilities and skills for effective production, merchandising, and customer services related to sale of merchandise.

  • Follow planner, memos, bulletins, and faxes from the offices to create additional sales.
  • Coordinate intercom sales according to policy and procedures.
  • Plan and organize workflow to accomplish goals and objectives; set priorities and timelines.
  • Daily prioritize list for clerks; follow up on tasks and assignments.
  • Monitor vendors to ensure policy compliance.
  • Maintain records of inventory, store statements, and invoices per policy.
  • Achieve profit contribution budgets and labor budgets.
  • Authorize manager discretion markdowns.
  • Greet customers and provide prompt assistance and courteous service.
  • Assist customers with products they may have difficulty handling.
  • Package merchandise according to policies; train new personnel.
  • Keep accurate records of in-store merchandise.
  • Order supplies and restock following procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Be thoroughly familiar with products carried in the department.

  • Responsible for apparel inventory accuracy and controls.
  • Supervise and coach direct reports in the performance of their duties; complete performance reviews and provide feedback to direct reports.
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.
Qualifications

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to read shelf tags, signs, product labels, training materials, and bulletins.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrate ability to make intelligent decisions quickly.
  • Able to tactfully and calmly handle stressful situations and make a positive impression on associates and customers.
  • Possess abilities and skills for effective production, merchandising, and customer services related to sale of merchandise.
  • Qualified and able to operate power machinery and work with various job tools.
