Job summary

Freese and Nichols, in Houston, TX, is seeking a Stormwater Project Engineer to provide technical leadership on stormwater and water resources projects, ranging from drainage studies to regional flood planning and infrastructure design.

You will apply hydrologic and hydraulic modeling expertise, lead technical work, support project management, and mentor junior engineers while building strong client relationships.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a comparable engineering/science field
• Texas PE registration or ability to obtain within six months
• 6+ years of related engineering experience
• Strong background in hydrologic/hydraulic modeling and stormwater infrastructure

Responsibilities

• Lead hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, drainage studies and impact analyses for stormwater and water resources projects
• Analyze and develop solutions for open channels, closed conduit systems, stormwater pump stations, detention and retention ponds
• Support drainage master planning, regional flood planning and reviews of proposed developments
• Prepare and review FEMA floodplain studies, CLOMRs and LOMRs
• Lead technical reports, analyses, and other engineering deliverables
• Guide multidisciplinary project teams and mentor junior staff
• Support project schedules, financial tracking, status reporting, invoicing and delivery for projects of varying size and complexity
• Build strong client relationships through clear communication and technical guidance
