Job summary

City of Germantown seeks an GIS support technician to assist the Engineering team and GIS Division with field data collection and data integration into the city’s GIS. You will use ESRI software on field tablets to log GPS coordinates, capture photos, and generate maps and supporting figures.

The role includes data correction, analysis, and preparing maps, reports, and data layers to support stream restoration and stormwater management efforts. Strong communication and teamwork are essential.

Job description

GENERAL DEFINITION OF WORK

Under General supervision, supports the Engineering team and GIS Division by providing technical assistance and assisting with GIS data collection. Utilizes geospatial technology (e.g., ESRI software on a field tablet) to accurately log GPS coordinates and capture photographic documentation. Inputs, maintains, and integrates field data and other information into the City's Geographic Information System (GIS) geodatabase. Generates maps, figures, and supporting documentation (e.g., tables, summaries) from the collected GIS data. Analyzes the collected data to highlight and map areas with high-severity issues, helping prioritize future stream restoration, maintenance, and stormwater management activities based on field data.
