Job summary

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. seeks a Construction Storm Water Field Specialist to support field training, permitting, compliance, inspections, reporting, and technical support for renewable energy projects.

The role blends office and field duties across program areas. You will advise EPC contractors and developers on NPDES/SWPPP requirements, conduct field assessments, review plans for constructability, and help craft corrective actions to mitigate regulatory exposure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in environmental management or water resources.
• Field experience with SWPPP writing, erosion control planning, water resource engineering.
• Minimum one year of environmental permitting experience including NPDES permitting and SWPPP.
• Certifications related to EPA Construction Stormwater within 6 months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Provide consulting and advisory services on stormwater permitting, erosion control, and regulatory compliance.
• Advise clients on NPDES construction stormwater permit requirements and SWPPP interpretation.
• Serve as technical escalation point for stormwater, ESC, and compliance on active sites.
• Conduct targeted field assessments to evaluate BMP performance and permit compliance.
• Review civil, grading, and ESC plans for constructability and compliance risks.
• Develop practical corrective actions with contractors to reduce environmental exposure.
• Support pre-construction site verification and post-construction stabilization visits.
• Guide soil handling, topsoil preservation, and reclamation practices.
• Assist with SPCC planning and field verification as needed.
• Produce concise technical memoranda and compliance documentation for clients.
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and regulatory agencies for permitting and close-out.
• Mentor junior staff and inspectors as applicable.
• Travel frequently to project sites (about 50% on average).
