Job summary

FirstEnergy Corp is seeking a Materials/ Warehouse Manager to direct warehousing and distribution across multiple service centers. You will travel weekly to line shops, supervise staff, and ensure compliance with material control policies while coordinating with Lines, Engineering and Meter departments.

The role involves forecasting material needs, managing staging for emergencies, and maintaining inventory accuracy. A degree is preferred; SAP/CREWS experience is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree.
  • In lieu of a degree, High School Diploma (or GED) along with a minimum of 4 years work experience.
  • Experience in a leadership role or supervisory experience is a plus.
  • Experience in warehousing and materials management is a plus.
  • Knowledge of transmission and substation materials is a plus.
  • Ability to evaluate bill of materials and forecast material needs a plus.
  • Proficient computer skills and working knowledge of SAP, CREWS, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Desire to continue to learn and grow, work across FirstEnergy, deliver results and supervise others.
  • Ability to comprehend the company's Accident Prevention Handbook and apply it to safety in the workplace.
  • Working knowledge of bargaining unit agreements and/or working with bargaining unit employees is preferred.
  • Self starter who works well independently as well as in a team environment and can multi-task while prioritizing daily workload.
  • Ability to make timely decisions that utilize available material and resources in a cost effective manner.
  • Demonstrate proficiency at planning and scheduling work.
  • Ability to lead a team in order to achieve company business objectives and goals.
  • Tracking and maintaining accurate and proper paperwork.
  • Ability to work extra and irregular hours.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and coordinate warehousing and distribution activities at 6-10 service center locations.
  • Travel to multiple line shops weekly to check in with storekeeper and other departments that may have material questions or concerns.
  • Resolve material control system problems, interface with district stores and ensure warehouse activities are done per process.
  • Monitoring employees and enforcing conformance to established work practices, rules and procedures.
  • Ensure employees are following proper accounting policies and procedures.
  • Implementing instructions and training of employees.
  • Coordinating work with other departments including Lines, Engineering, Work Management, Sub, Fleet and Meter.
  • Forecast demand management to identify material needs and risks.
  • Monitor and document work habits of employees in adherence to labor agreements.
  • Assist in materials layout and design at job site and monitor equipment utilization by contractors and internal work force.
  • Interface with customers regarding inventory management.
  • May be required to manage a non-company warehouse if required for emergencies or other peaks.
  • Directing and overseeing material inspections, storage, cycle counting, issuing, picking/packing, inventory accuracy and general housekeeping.
  • Communicate with customers to ensure sound business relationships.
  • Provide regional material support during emergency/storm situations, with extended or irregular hours.
  • Set up and run a staging site to support emergency restoration.
  • Provide regional materials on a 24/7 basis.
  • Travel to multiple job site locations to receive deliveries, track materials, manage paperwork and oversee operations.
  • Performing other projects and duties as assigned.
