Job summary

SG Metal & Glass, a Chicago-based glazing contractor, seeks a Design & Engineering Specialist to translate architectural visions into AutoCAD shop drawings for curtain wall, storefront, and metal systems. This on-site Bridgeview, IL role is full-time with mentorship toward leadership.

Responsibilities include producing detailed drawings, managing submittals, coordinating with architects and engineers, and creating Bills of Materials to ensure fabrication accuracy and timely delivery.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in commercial construction drafting or project engineering.
• Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD with the ability to interpret complex drawings.
• Understanding of glazing or facade systems coordination, fabrication, and installation.
• Strong organizational skills for multi-phase project documentation and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Produce highly detailed AutoCAD shop drawings for curtain wall, storefront, and metal systems.
• Manage the full lifecycle of submittal packages from creation to architectural approval.
• Coordinate technical requirements with architects, structural engineers, and general contractors.
• Develop Bills of Materials to streamline fabrication and procurement.
• Translate plans into field and shop documentation to prevent delays.
