Job summary

Pet Supplies Plus is seeking a Store Team Leader (Store Manager) to oversee all aspects of the store’s operations, drive results, and lead a high-performing team. You will manage staffing, schedules, and performance to maintain the high standards our neighbors expect.

In this role you will coach and develop the leadership team, build strong customer service, and ensure inventory, safety, and financial controls are executed consistently.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of retail leadership experience required.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated ability to coach, develop, and hold leaders and team members accountable.
• Ability to analyze business performance, identify opportunities, and develop plans to improve results.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining strong operational standards.
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and the ability to learn company systems.
• Dependable with reliable transportation.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule based on business needs.
• Ability to climb ladders, bend, kneel, and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to safely operate required store equipment after completing appropriate training.

Responsibilities

• Take overall ownership and accountability for store operations, team performance, and business results.
• Lead, coach, and develop the Assistant Store Team Leader, Department Managers, Shift Supervisors, and team members.
• Build a strong leadership team by establishing clear expectations, delegating ownership, providing feedback, and holding leaders accountable for results.
• Recruit, interview, onboard, develop, and retain a fully staffed and engaged team.
• Create effective schedules that support business needs, neighbor service, productivity, and established labor expectations.
• Analyze store performance and develop action plans to improve sales, profitability, productivity, loyalty, and neighbor engagement.
• Maintain accountability for inventory management, cash controls, audits, and other key operational and financial expectations.
• Ensure consistent execution of daily stocking and down stocking, merchandising, animal care, cleanliness, safety, security, and overall store standards.
• Provide ongoing coaching, recognition, performance management, and development opportunities for the store team.
• Resolve escalated neighbor, team member, and operational concerns appropriately.
• Build relationships within the local community and identify opportunities for events, partnerships, and local marketing.
• Communicate store results, staffing needs, opportunities, and significant concerns to District Leadership.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned based on the needs of the business.

The Store Team Leader (Store Manager) has overall responsibility and accountability for the leadership, performance, and operation of the store. Building upon all levels of store leadership, the Store Team Leader develops the leadership team, drives business results, manages staffing and labor, and ensures consistent execution of company standards.

Leadership Expectations-

Store Team Leaders are expected to take full ownership of the store, its team, and its results. This includes developing capable leaders, establishing clear expectations, driving accountability, identifying opportunities, and implementing solutions that improve the business.

A successful Store Team Leader builds a leadership team capable of consistently executing company standards and effectively operating the store whether or not the Store Team Leader is physically present.
