Job summary

Family Dollar in Tarentum, PA is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to help run daily store operations, deliver strong customer service, and develop the store team.

You will assist with merchandise flow, opening/closing, payroll and scheduling, loss prevention, and ensure a clean, safe, and compliant store environment. This role requires effective communication, teamwork, and the ability to lift up to 55 lbs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred; ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives is required.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment is preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs and perform physical activities.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills are required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment.
• Exceptional customer service, organizational, and communication skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
• Support customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns.
• Help organize and transfer merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom to sales floor and maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives and communications related to store activities.
• Maintain promo front fixtures and displays.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, payroll, scheduling, deposits and receipts, and loss prevention.
• Maintain a well-stocked, organized store and stockroom to company standards.
• Protect and secure all company assets, including store cash.
• Adhere to policies and safety guidelines and ensure staff follow procedures.
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
• Maintain a positive, safe, and respectful environment with customers and staff.
• Maintain cleanliness throughout the store, bathrooms, floors, and waste removal.
• Other duties as assigned.
