Job summary

The Save Mart Companies in Manteca, CA is seeking a Head Clerk to oversee store operations and lead department staff. You will direct employees across departments, ensure exceptional customer service, and support merchandising and Center Store upkeep.

Responsibilities include monitoring promotions, inventory, and display setups; supervising checkers and service clerks; maintaining a clean, safe work environment; and handling checkout duties. Availability for varied retail hours is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum six months as Key Carrier or 9 months as Perimeter Department Manager (or equivalent grocery retail management experience).
• Ability to learn and retain policies and procedures and work within a team.

Responsibilities

• Monitor ads/promotions/seasonal changes and ensure display set-ups and signage.
• Monitor sales, take inventory, analyze advertised sales and submit product orders.
• Stock merchandise shelves and displays and ensure adequate supplies.
• Direct checkers, service clerks and others to ensure efficient customer service.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment for customers and staff.
• Process checkout and totals for customer purchases.
• Perform other Senior or General Clerk assignments.
