Job summary

Kroger is seeking an on-site department supervisor at our Monroe, WI store to lead grocery operations and deliver outstanding customer experiences. You will direct all department duties, manage daily functions, and partner with store leadership to meet sales and service goals.

Embrace our Customer 1st strategy while upholding safety, integrity, and teamwork. You will train associates, plan schedules, manage inventories and pricing, and implement promotions.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of basic math to handle pricing and transactions.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations in a busy store environment.
  • High school education or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare seasonal critiques for the sales and merchandising supervisor.
  • Implement promotional plans for the department.
  • Stay current with ads and promotions.
  • Monitor and control department expenses.
  • Assist management with budget, P&L and financial reports.
  • Maintain inventory awareness and note discrepancies.
  • Schedule price changes and update shelf tags.
  • Plan, organize and supervise inventory processes.
  • Train staff on inventory, stocking and ordering.
  • Adhere to food safety regulations and temperature logs.
  • Reinforce safety programs and report unsafe conditions.
  • Inspect equipment and arrange repairs as needed.
  • Notify management of accidents, safety risks or wrongdoing.
  • Handle customer/employee conflicts calmly and professionally.
  • Ensure privacy and integrity of customer and business information.
  • Provide support to minors, people with special needs, and older adults.
  • Perform essential job functions with or without accommodation.

Responsibilities

  • Develop adequate scheduling to manage customer volume throughout hours of operation.
  • Train and develop associates on performance of their job and participate in the performance appraisal process.
  • Adhere to all local, state and federal laws, and company guidelines.
  • Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the department and be able to respond to questions and make suggestions about products.
  • Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or products they inquire about.
  • Inform customers of grocery specials.
  • Develop and implement a department business plan to achieve desired results.
  • Create and execute sales promotions in partnership with store management.
  • Prepare and submit seasonal critiques for the sales and merchandising supervisor.
  • Implement the period promotional plan for the department.
  • Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads.
  • Monitor and control expenses for the department.
  • Assist store management in preparing the store/department budget, profit and loss reviews, and take appropriate action on all financial reports.
  • Maintain an awareness of inventory/stocking conditions; note any discrepancies in inventory.
  • Schedule daily, weekly and monthly price changes by updating shelf tags and promotional signs..
  • Plan, organize and supervise the inventory process.
  • Train department associates on inventory/stocking and Computer Assisted Ordering.
  • Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained and temperature logs are maintained.
  • Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identify unsafe conditions and notify store management.
  • Practice preventive maintenance by properly inspecting equipment and notify appropriate department or store manager of any items in need of repair.
  • Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
  • Report all safety risks or issues, and illegal activity, including: robbery, theft or fraud.
  • Ability to work cooperatively in high paced and sometimes stressful environment.
  • Ability to manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational and cooperative manner.
  • Ability to act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
  • Ability to follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve customer and business issues.
  • Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and/or older adults.
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.
