Job summary

Kroger Family of Companies in the United States is seeking a customer-focused team member to deliver outstanding service and help ensure a safe, clean store environment. You will assist the department manager in meeting sales goals and uphold our Customer 1st standards across the department.

Applicants should have solid communication skills, basic math ability and retail experience. Bilingual abilities are a plus.

Qualifications

• Ability to remain calm and productive in high-pressure situations.
• Knowledge of basic math including counting, addition, subtraction.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience working in a retail environment is preferred.
• Ability to speak/read/write a second language is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important and appreciated by answering questions about products in the department and store.
• Gain knowledge of products and respond to questions and make suggestions.
• Recommend grocery items to customers and inform them of specials.
• Check product quality to ensure freshness; review sell by dates and take action.
• Label, stock and inventory department merchandise; provide customers with fresh products.
• Report ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Display a positive attitude.
• Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads.
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained and logs kept.
• Reinforce safety programs by following procedures and reporting unsafe conditions.
• Inspect equipment and notify management of needed repairs.
• Notify management of accidents involving customers or associates.
• Report safety risks and illegal activity, including theft or fraud.

RESPONSIBILITIES - Promote trust and respect among associates

• Create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important and appreciated by answering questions regarding products sold within the department and throughout the store

• Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the department and be able to respond to questions and make suggestions about products

• Recommend grocery items to customers to ensure they get the products they want and need; inform customers of grocery specials

• Check product quality to ensure freshness; review sell by dates and take appropriate action

• Label, stock and inventory department merchandise; provide customers with fresh products that they have ordered

• Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager

• Display a positive attitude

• Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads
