Position Summary: The Store Manager in Training (SMIT) participates in all aspects of retail store operations to develop the knowledge, skills, and leadership capabilities required to successfully perform the Store Manager role at any regional Goodwill location. Through hands-on training and progressive responsibility, this position learns to oversee daily store operations, drive sales and donation performance, support financial and loss control objectives, and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures. The SMIT partners with store leadership to develop supervisory, staffing, customer service, and operational management skills while gaining experience in talent development, budget oversight, and business performance management. This role is responsible for supporting the achievement of sales, operational, staffing, and customer experience goals while fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and service excellence that advances the mission and values of Goodwill.
Hourly Rate: $23.07 - $25.08 per hour

Supervisory Responsibilities: Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret hard data and metrics. Ability to write creatively and articulately with an emphasis on tact and diplomacy. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, and average. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra when working on spreadsheets. Ability to create and manage departmental budget.
Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge Microsoft Office products, specifically Word and Excel and PowerPoint.
Other Skills and Abilities: Comprehensive understanding of all aspects of Store Manager in Training.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid First‑Aid card which meets OSHA and WISHA standards (may be obtained within 30 days of hire).

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is constantly required to stand, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee is regularly required to walk. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Will constantly lift 1-15 pounds, frequently lift 15-20 pounds, and occasionally up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
