The Store Manager In Training (SMIT) job is a development-focused role designed to prepare you for a CVS Store Manager position. The program lasts 16 weeks and offers virtual and hands-on learning experiences to develop your leadership skills. Support for your growth includes your District Leader, Human Resources Business Partner, Training Store Manager, and Store Manager coach.

Key skills required include:

  1. Effective verbal and written communication to lead your team.
  2. Customer care duties to ensure high service levels.
  3. Executing merchandising strategies to support sales growth.
  4. Managing store inventory and assets to maintain profitability.

We expect our SMITs to:

  1. Engage actively with leadership during the program.
  2. Support store operations as a management team member, aligned with CVS values and policies.
  3. Engage colleagues to support the company's purpose of helping people on their path to better health.
  4. Be willing to accept promotion roles within the market.

Note: Selection as an SMIT does not guarantee promotion to Store Manager. Promotion depends on performance and available openings.

Additional requirements include:

  • Willingness to accept a Store Manager role at any location within the market.
  • Ability to transfer within CVS stores in the market.
  • Flexible work schedule based on business needs.
  • High School diploma or GED; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Retail management or CVS supervisory experience.
