Job summary

Goodwill of Western & Northern Connecticut is seeking a Store Manager to lead one of its New Milford stores. This role drives store operations, financial performance, staff supervision, and customer service excellence to support the organization’s mission.

The ideal candidate has strong leadership and merchandising skills, experience in retail management, and is prepared for day/evening/weekend shifts. Relocation may be required; healthcare and retirement benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Experience or education in Business and Marketing.
• Two years of experience in a management/supervisory position.
• Ability to supervise and train in shipping/receiving, stock duties, merchandising, cashiering, and customer service retail.
• Availability to work day, evening, and weekend shifts as necessary.
• Willing to travel or relocate.
• Must be able to lift over 40 pounds and stand for long periods.
• Exposure to inclement weather.
• Exposure to various merchandise with potential for contaminated or damaged items.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for all aspects of store operations, financial performance, personnel management, all front-end cash registers, floor and visual processes, loss prevention, and enforcing all company policies and procedures.
• Managing a Goodwill retail store within the agency’s established policy
• Recruiting, training, and supervising retail team members in retail operation procedures
• Delegating work assignments to appropriate associates and ensuring team members complete assigned tasks
• Creating team member work schedules to achieve optimum customer service, merchandise display, store security, and expense control
• Recommending and administering appropriate discipline to team members as needed
• Ordering merchandise to stock store
• Maintaining records of sales data and bank deposits
• Planning attractive merchandise displays that make effective use of the sales area
• Attending marketing and sales meetings
• Maintaining store premises and grounds in compliance with agency safety and housekeeping practices
• Participating in community business activities such as merchant associations or local Chamber of Commerce meetings

Position Requirements:

• High school graduate or equivalent
