Job summary

Dollar General is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to help run a clean, customer-focused store. You will assist with supervision, merchandise presentation, deposits, and daily store tasks to maximize profitability and reduce losses.

The role includes stocking, cashier duties, scheduling, and training. Previous retail and some supervisory experience are preferred in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Effective interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of situations.
• Good organization skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to read and interpret diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations including percentages.
• Ability to drive own vehicle to the bank to deposit money.

Responsibilities

• Provide superior customer service leadership; greet and assist customers, and operate cash register and scanner to itemize the customer's purchase.
• Open and close the store a minimum of two days per week.
• Assist Store Manager with scheduling employees, providing training, safety meetings, and policy adherence.
• Manage merchandise including receiving, stocking, restocking, and building displays.
• Maintain accurate inventory by controlling damages, markdowns, scanning, and paperwork.
• Implement and maintain planograms; ensure display according to established practices.
• Ensure cash handling integrity; supervise cash register operations, deposits, and refunds.
• Assist with store operations in the Store Manager's absence.
