Job summary

Shoe Carnival is seeking a motivated, customer-focused Store Lead to oversee an area of the store in Louisville, KY. This role offers the opportunity to take on more responsibility and grow into a leadership position, with hands-on training and leadership experience.

The Store Lead will manage a department, greet customers, train associates, handle transactions, organize displays, and promote current sales programs while coordinating team communication and tasks.

Qualifications

• Strong communication and customer service skills required.
• Ability to take initiative and lead by example.
• Cash handling and basic sales experience preferred.
• Willingness to learn and operate the POS system.
• Flexible availability including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Must be at least 16 years old.

What You'll Do

• Greet and assist customers with a positive, helpful attitude
• Train and guide associates on service, product placement, and cash handling
• Handle transactions, returns, and safe/till counts as needed
• Organize merchandise, displays, and help with truck unloading and floor moves
• Promote current sales and programs
• Delegate tasks and communicate clearly with the team

What We're Looking For

• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Confidence in taking initiative and leading by example
• At least one year experience in retail, sales, or cash handling (preferred)
• Ability to learn and operate the POS system
• Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Must be at least 16 years old

Physical Requirements

• Able to stand, walk, and lift up to 25 lbs during shifts
• Comfortable bending, squatting, and reaching for merchandise
• Able to move quickly in a fast-paced store environment
