Job Title: Huck’s Market Assistant Manager

Job Purpose
The Assistant Manager is responsible for the proper and efficient operation of their shift, within company policy, in such a manner as to ensure that the shift contributes to the increased profitability of the store and to assist the manager in management functions. An Assistant Manager must be willing to accept a promotion and assume the responsibilities of a store manager upon completion of training programs and as an opening is available. (The option to relocate when there is an opening is negotiable.)

Job Duties And Responsibilities
General Management

  • Gives all customers prompt and courteous service, including greeting customers via gasoline intercom and adhering to Best In Class standards.
  • Observes shift operating hours as assigned by the Store Manager, including helping to fill shifts.
  • Works the store manager's days off and at least two evening shifts per week to ensure strong coverage during peak hours.
  • Performs specific tasks as assigned by the Store Manager.
  • Communicates effectively with store associates and management.
  • Follows all applicable laws and ordinances related to store operation.
  • Serves as a role model for conduct among associates.
  • Reports all sales, cash, or operating discrepancies to the Store Manager.
  • Ensures all associates are in proper uniform and provide prompt, courteous customer service.

Bookkeeping
  • Completes shift change reports at beginning and end of shifts as per company policy.
  • Records all hours worked accurately via the computer.
  • Rings all sales correctly, including over rings and refunds.
  • Prepares daily paperwork and store deposits as directed.

Human Resources
  • Treats all staff with dignity and respect, managing personnel appropriately.
  • Informs Store Manager of personnel issues or policy violations affecting store performance.

Security
  • Follows shift procedures to ensure safety and security.
  • Maintains a safe shopping and working environment.
  • Handles cash and merchandise securely as per policy.
  • Follows vendor check-in procedures.

Merchandising
  • Keeps all stock and displays fully stocked and fronted.
  • Maintains equipment and prepares high-margin products as directed.
  • Uses correct pricing as per policy.

Maintenance
  • Maintains store appearance to reflect company standards.
  • Keeps floors, windows, and parking lot clean and in good repair.
  • Ensures restrooms and food areas are clean and sanitary.
  • Reports maintenance issues to the Store Manager.

Safety
  • Follows proper lifting procedures and ladder safety.
  • Uses wet floor signs and reports accidents promptly.

Huck’s Bucks Loyalty App
  • Promotes the app to customers.
  • Explains benefits and assists with sign-up and usage.
  • Monitors for misuse of points or discounts.
