Job summary

The Salvation Army in Minneapolis is seeking a part-time Donation Center Associate to greet donors, assist with donations, and keep the donation area clean and organized. This 25-hour-per-week role helps fund our Adult Rehabilitation Centers and sustain thrift store operations.

You will process donations, track items, and support truck loading/unloading. A strong team ethic, reliability, and ability to work weekends/evenings are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or current enrollment.
• Strong English communication for donor and team interactions.
• Basic computer skills and ability to learn new systems.
• Basic math skills and data handling.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment background check.
• Flexible schedule including weekends and evenings.

Responsibilities

• Greet donors and provide exceptional donor service.
• Process and track donations accurately.
• Maintain a clean, organized donation area.
• Sort, load and unload Salvation Army trucks per center policy.
• Perform power sort of donations as they arrive.
• Support production processes as needed.
• Safeguard donated materials and equipment.
• Report complaints, damage, or injuries in the donation area.
• Inform donors about pickup options for heavy items.

Status: Part-time, 25 hours per week

Pay Rate : $16.37

Key Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional donor service by greeting donors and offering assistance
• Process and track donations accurately
• Maintain a clean and well-organized donation area
• Sort, load, and unload Salvation Army trucks per center policy
• Power sort donations as they arrive (where applicable)
• Support production processes as needed
• Safeguard all donated materials and assigned equipment
• Report any complaints, damage, or injuries occurring in the donation area
• Guide donors on acceptable materials and provide information about pickup services for heavy items

What You'll Need to Succeed

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or currently pursuing
• Strong English communication skills for donor and team interactions
• Basic computer skills and ability to learn new systems

• Ability to pass pre-employment background check
• Must be available for a flexible schedule including weekends and evenings

Physical Requirements

• Ability to regularly lift and move up to 50 pounds
• Occasionally lift and move up to 100 pounds
• Stand for extended periods
• Walk, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch as needed
• Work in various weather conditions (outdoor exposure)
