Description

1. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Summary of Duties – Responsible for the overall profitability and oversight of the store, and more specifically, for managing the details of daily operation of departments within the store. Supervises departments and supervises the operation of the stores. Manages Supervisors to ensure that each department operates effectively and efficiently.
  • Scope of Duties – Performs the duties of a Store Director for Superior. Specifically, oversee the overall day-to-day operations of the store and departments within the store. Uses judgement and discretion on a daily basis to make important decisions affecting operations of the store.
  • Primary Responsibilities
  • Store Operations
  • Primarily engaged in management of the warehouse.
  • Supervises the work of Department Heads to ensure efficient and profitable operation of the store.
  • Responsible for determining that company approved prices are in effect in assigned departments.
  • Recommends action to correct unsatisfactory expense ratios and sales performance in assigned departments.
  • Recommends changes in the procedures of assigned departments that would enable stores to operate more effectively and maintain a lower labor cost
  • Responsible for department’s compliance with city codes, health regulations, weighs and measures regulations, insurance company standards and company standards. Responsible for enforcing an effective safety program and monitoring an efficient security control program within the departments and store.
  • Responsible for the cleanliness of the store in all areas, including (a) work and storage areas (exterior and interior), (b) building (exterior and interior), (c) parking lot and (d) sales area.
  • Reports on any competitive pricing conditions, changes in store hours or the opening or closing of any important competitor.
  • From time to time performs other duties as assigned.
  • Personnel
  • Develops and maintains strong departmental organization within the store.
  • Where applicable, requires that the store conforms to company policy and government regulations.
  • Works with all Store Management in establishing personnel training programs. Ensures implementation of same.
  • Interviews, selects, and trains employees.
  • Sets and adjusts pay rates of subordinates and work hours.
  • Resolves employees’ complaints and grievances.
  • Directs the work of subordinates.
  • Evaluates employees’ efficiency and productivity.
  • Plans work and distributes work.
  • Determines the techniques to be used by his/her subordinates in doing their work.
  • Ensure that all employees you are responsible for take their meal and breaks
  • Ensure compliance with safety programs and procedures.
  • Initiates merchandising plans and promotions in assigned departments of the stores.
  • Recommends merchandising plans for assigned departments. These plans shall encompass the variety of merchandise, the allocation of space by item and the pricing and location of merchandise within the departments
  • Reports on the merchandising plans of competitors.
  • Budgets and Capital Expenditures
  • Recommends capital expenditures necessary for the proper and profitable operation of assigned departments.
  • Recommends the remodeling of departments when needed.

2. RESPONSIBILITY & AUTHORITY

  • Personnel – Supervises store department heads and all store employees.
  • Materials and Products – Recommends the purchase of any item necessary for the profitable operation of stores or departments.
  • Operations or Functions – Responsible for complying with Company policies regarding the proper accounting of supplies and product inventories.
  • Equipment – Recommends the purchase of any equipment needed for the proper operation of the stores and departments.
  • Money – Responsible for carrying out company operating procedures in an effort to properly protect company resources.
  • Company Relationships – Receives assistance from and consults with supervisors. Confers, as necessary, with the District Manager, Supervisors, Corporate Office Staff and other Management personnel.

3. SUPPORT RECEIVED

  • Immediate Supervision – Reports to the District Manager. Expected to work without consultation on day to day problems of departmental merchandising and employee relations.
  • Fundamental Assistance – Receives assistance from various departments in order to fulfill required responsibilities.

4. EDUCATION & TRAINING

  • Education Required – High School Diploma or its equivalent and a thorough knowledge of the retail food business.
  • Training Required – Five to ten years experience in the retail food business with at least two years experience as a Store Department Head or Store Manager.
  • Knowledge and Other Abilities – Thorough knowledge of merchandising, display product quality control. Ability to set up and organize departments within a retail food store. Ability to train, organize, motivate, and discipline employees. Ability to understand and properly operate within company policies and governmental regulations.

Range: $82,000 to $125,000 annually
