The Salvation Army in Warrenton, VA is seeking a Store Clerk to assist customers, process donations, ring up sales, and maintain a clean, organized shop. This full-time role involves daily cash handling, pricing donated items, and helping customers with purchases.

You will operate the cash register, balance the drawer, prepare receipts and deposits, and assist in stocking displays. Retail experience is preferred; a high school diploma or GED is required. Benefits are offered with full-time hours.

Job Details: Job Location: PMC-Warrenton Family Store - WARRENTON, VA 20816, Salary Range: $13.70 - $15.00 Hourly, Job Category: Store, Schedule/Hours: Full-Time

This position is responsible for:

The Store Clerk function may include a regular shift as part of the daily workload. Assists store customers in donating, selecting, and purchasing store items; operates and maintains a cash register; responds to customers questions; maintains the cleanliness and orderliness of the store displays; ensures the security of store items and the cash register.

The Sorting Room function entails receiving, sorting, pricing, and preparing donated items for display in the store; determines suitability and pricing of items based on established standards; assists in maintaining the orderliness and cleanliness of the warehouse area.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assists customers purchasing items from The Salvation Army by ringing-up sales utilizing a cash register; collects monies, counts change, and prepares receipts; prepares and packages purchased items; prepares and balances the cash drawer and runs routine register print-outs; prepares and delivers bank deposits; ensures the security and accountability of all cash register funds and sales records in accordance with established operating procedures.
• Prepares, processes, and maintains various sales records, tax forms, and social service vouchers; prepares routine sales reports as directed.
• Answers the store telephone in a tactful and courteous manner; assists customers by responding to questions and providing directions and/or general information; may schedule and record donation pick-ups.
• Assists customers by explaining store policy and responding to questions regarding the pricing and/or purchasing of items; ensures that all customers visiting the store have a pleasant experience.
• Receives, inspects, and sorts donated items such as clothes, shoes, household items, bric-a-brack, etc. according to the category and condition.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

• Work requires the ability to lift and carry and/or push/pull heavy materials, supplies and equipment frequently. Heavy mobility duties are usually performed by combinations of standing, walking, climbing ladders or steps, bending, reaching, or transporting merchandise on frequent change basis relieved by fewer periods of sitting.
• Work is performed in a stock room, warehouse, or store environment where there are discomforts associated with changes in weather. There are occasional discomforts associated with noise, crowds, dust, lint, chemical odors, and the like.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR IN YOU:
