Responsibilities

  • Takes inventory or examines merchandise to identify items to be reordered or replenished.
  • Receives, opens, and unpacks cartons or crates of merchandise; checks invoice against items received.
  • Attaches price tags using price lists and stocks storage/display areas.
  • Sets up advertising signs and displays merchandise to attract customers and promote sales.
  • Maintains accurate cash balance in till and processes purchases.

Responsibilities

Summary:

Inventories, stores, prices, and restocks merchandise displays in retail store by performing the following duties

Note: Effective 1 December 2024, Store Clerk residing in Trident housing will be subject to a co-pay of $15 per day for room and board, for each day that at least 8 hours of work is offered.

Essential functions (responsibilities, tasks, supervisory needs)

  • Takes inventory or examines merchandise to identify items to be reordered or replenished.
  • Receives, opens, and unpacks cartons or crates of merchandise, checking invoice against items received.
  • Stamps, attaches, or changes price tags on merchandise, referring to price list.
  • Stocks storage areas and displays with new or transferred merchandise.
  • Sets up advertising signs and displays merchandise on shelves, counters, or tables to attract customers and promote sales.
  • Cleans display cases, shelves, and aisles.
  • Itemizes and totals customer merchandise selection at checkout counter and accepts cash or charge card for purchases, gives accurate change.
  • Packs customer purchases in bags or cartons.
  • Maintains accurate cash balance in till, may count and reconcile till as requested.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications (education, years of experience, KSAs)

  • Must be a current Trident Seafoods employee or have worked for Trident Seafoods before
  • One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to read, write and speak basic English. Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Ability to accurately conduct cash transactions using American money.

Work environment (includes travel/on-call):

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Physical demands:

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is regularly required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must routinely lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or up to 40 pounds
