Job summary

Goodwill Industries of Central Florida (GICF) is seeking a Store Cashier in Port Orange, FL. You will operate a cash register, greet donors and customers, and provide friendly, efficient service throughout each shift.

Primary duties include ringing up transactions, directing customers, ensuring correct receipts and change, and maintaining a clean register area. Prior retail or cashiering experience is preferred and basic computer skills are required.

Qualifications

• High School education or equivalent required or preferred.
• Prior cashiering/retail experience preferred.
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with touch-screen cash registers.
• Strong customer-service orientation and ability to greet donors and customers.

Responsibilities

• Ring up all sales transactions accurately at the cash register.
• Greet customers and donors with a courteous, friendly attitude.
• Direct customers to the appropriate area and provide general information as requested.
• Ensure correct change and receipt for each purchase and follow all register policies.
• Keep the register area clean and orderly at all times.
• Answer telephone calls promptly using established etiquette.
• Assist sales floor staff with stocking and recovery as needed.

The Opportunity!

At Goodwill Industries of Central Florida, as a Store Cashier, you will be expected to provide excellent customer service while operating a cash register. Major duties include ringing up all sales transactions, operating a cash register, and greeting and assisting customers/donors.

A Day in the Life of a Store Cashier!

You will find yourself:

• Greeting each customer with a courteous, friendly, and professional attitude.
• Providing prompt, efficient, and accurate customer service at all times.
• Directing customers to the proper area and providing general information as requested.
• Ringing up all sales transactions into the cash register and complete sales.
• Ensuring that each customer receives the proper change and correct receipt for purchase.
• Following all policies and procedures concerning cash, check, charge card transactions, voids, gift cards, and change Round Up program.
• Keeping the register area clean and orderly at all times.
• Answering telephone calls promptly using an established etiquette procedure.
• Assisting sales floor employees with stocking and recovery.

Qualifications: Physical and Environmental Work Conditions

• Regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
• Vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
• Standing and walking for long periods.
• Ability to stoop, bend, kneel, push, and pull.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate (examples: business office with computers and printers, light traffic).

Education and/or Experience

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• High School education or equivalent is preferred. Previous retail and/or cashiering experience is highly preferred.
• To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic computer skills and beginner knowledge of touch screen cash registers.
