Job summary

Gordon Food Service is hiring an Assistant Store Manager in Memphis. You will be the right-hand to the Store Manager, responsible for supporting all aspects of store operations and achieving performance goals.

You will lead team members, manage merchandise, and ensure excellent customer service, with a focus on profitability and operational standards. This role requires a hands-on leader who can drive results in a retail environment.

Qualifications

• Two (2) or more years of grocery or retail management experience.
• Hands-on leadership experience in grocery retail preferred.
• Flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly.

Responsibilities

• Assist in managing all aspects of store operations including customer service and store condition.
• Assist in unloading deliveries, organizing merchandise, and stocking from stockroom to store.
• Collaborate with team to meet merchandising standards and visual presentation.
• Maintain sales reporting to support earnings and minimize shrink.
• Fill in for Store Manager in their absence.

Gordon Food Service At a Glance. As Assistant Store Manager, you are the right-hand to the Store Manager! You'll become well trained to cover all aspects of store operations, achieve key performance and financial objectives, as well as directional and performance planning. Be part of it! How You'll Make an Impact

• Assists with the management of all aspects of Store operations, including customer service, store condition and the selection, training, supervising, and performance management of Store Sales Associates
• Assists in unloading all merchandise from delivery trucks, organizes merchandise, and transfers merchandise from stockroom to store
• Collaborates with team members to ensure the store meets or exceeds the established merchandising standards for product quality, presentation and visual marketing/merchandising
• Keep up with reporting to support sales, earnings, and minimizing shrink
• Assumes full management responsibility in the absence of the Store Manager

Requirements

• Two (2) or more years of grocery or retail management experience
• Hands‑on leadership experience in grocery retail (e.g. Produce, Deli/Bakery, or Meat/Seafood departments) is highly preferred but not required.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs with frequent lifting above shoulder height
• Schedule Availability: Ability to work a flexible, full‑time schedule to include days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
• You must be 18 years of age or older
• High School Diploma / Equivalent
• Successfully pass our pre-employment checks, including a drug screen and criminal background check
• Valid driver’s license and safe driving record per GFS policy
