Our Assistant Store Managers are on the front lines, providing friendly customer service and offering the best selection of pet care items. You will contribute to the store's success by assisting the Store Manager in executing store operations. The ASM will also assist and manage Shift Managers, Shift Leads, and Sales Associates to ensure we continue to deliver World Class Service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Sales Leadership
  • Assist in driving sales, service, and customer experience initiatives to meet performance goals.
  • Monitor customer service and sales models, resolve complaints, and direct work as needed.
  • Recognize and celebrate team efforts and achievements.
  • Maintain professionalism and a positive attitude, communicating effectively verbally, in writing, or via email.
Customer Excellence
  • Ensure a safe, clean environment; care for livestock and maintain company assets.
  • Motivate, coach, develop, and manage team performance focused on customer experience.
  • Distribute store communications and ensure completion of required actions.
  • Uphold and represent company values accurately.
Operations & Talent Development
  • Maintain brand standards and operational excellence.
  • Manage inventory, ordering, and budgets.
  • Assist with physical inventories and shrink goals.
  • Create a team-oriented environment through role plays and contests.
  • Support training, hiring, and performance management processes.
  • Plan and execute community events and develop business relationships.
Business Insight
  • Monitor business throughout the shift and react to needs accordingly.
Experience, Education, Certifications
  • Minimum 2 years in retail management.
  • Enjoy working with animals.
  • College degree is a plus.
Job Requirements
  • Flexible schedule including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Rotating schedule including closing shifts and weekends.
  • Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
  • Heavy lifting up to 55 lbs, physical exertion, standing, and moving around.
  • Work in a temperature-stable environment; occasional solo work.
  • Potential for pet-related injuries; common slips, trips, and strains.
